It's important when traveling that you take care of mother earth while doing so! Here are some ways to enjoy your trip but also appreciate and love our one and only planet humans live on, earth!
Bring a re-useable water bottle.
Recycle any items you may use on a plane/while traveling.
Instead of printing your tickets use your phone for an e-ticket.
Bring your own reusable straw and utensils when dining.
Cut out meat (especially red meat) or eat more farm to table. Support local!
When you shop at a store bring your own bag or if a plastic bag is inevitable plan to reuse it.
Walk when possible rather than driving to a location and if you can, share transportation with others. CO2-emission from planes/cars/ contributes to global warming. If you must fly consider offsetting your flight’s CO2-emissions. Flying economy is more affordable and creates a smaller carbon print since you are taking up less physical space.
Stick to the path when hiking and don't play loud music. You could get in the way of endangered plants, scare animals, and get yourself lost! Let animals be on their own in nature where they are meant to be, be wary of animal tourism. Do you really need a picture riding an elephant to impress people when you come back from your travels? Is that animal being treated well? Wear sunscreen to protect your skin and the animals by picking a sunscreen that doesn't contain the chemicals oxybenzone and octinoxate which can increase coral bleaching.
Choose to stay and use eco-minded camping sights, hotels, hostels, or tour operators. Reuse your towels, bedding and clothing more than a single-use to save on running laundry.
Invest in products that last and purchase products that are made out of recycled material.
Conserve energy, when you are leaving your hotel room/bathroom, turn the light off.
While educating yourself, educate others, and create dialogue!
