It is known for its wineries in a quaint old town. I visited in the wintertime and enjoyed the town decorated in lights for the Holidays. It reminded me of the wine country in upstate NY, which makes sense since they are located near each other. I appreciate Christmas lights even if Christmas is not a holiday I celebrate and the area was definitely lit up. Pillar and Post Inn was where we stayed and it's also a spa and restaurant. The best part was the shuttle service to some local wineries. I enjoyed Two Sisters Vineyards for wine and a pasta dinner.
Niagara Falls-
Personally, I enjoy Niagara Falls on the Canadian side more...There is more to do and it is maintained a bit better in my opinion activity and nature-wise. Although the Americans do know about outlet shopping...Anyway, since I do live close to the border I have been spoiled with Tim Hortons or how we lovingly call it Timmie's. They have the best Hot chocolate. It's their main coffee chain in Canada. Obviously, the fall views are wonderful from both sides, and riding the Maid of the Mist is a must. Preferably in the warmer months of spring or summertime so you don't freeze. Clifton Hill is cheesy but fun. There is always action between rides and restaurants. Being there makes me feel nostalgic and is a blast from the past as I spent many summers as a kid visiting.
(We love an oldie but a goodie photo... ah, the glory days of braces! #throwback )
Mississauga- For most international trips when leaving North America, I prefer flying out of Toronto rather than Newark/JFK/Laguardia. I've found the Canadians to be friendlier and you don't have to take your shoes off at the airport (so gross but still carry socks just in case for some reason you need to take your shoes off on a layover in another country). DoubleTree by Hilton has a nice "park and stay" experience in Mississauga not too far from the airport. They have free cookies upon check-in that I know is a fan favorite for all. While there check out the Square One Shopping Centre, I was pleasantly surprised how nice this mall was...the bottom part had such cute bakeries and the upper levels had fashionable brands and many that I hadn't heard about as an American.
